An important tip: When pulling in, apply a few drops of resin-free sewing machine oil or special cable pull spray to the cable. This significantly reduces friction and protects the steel from corrosion. When shortening the cable, be sure to use sharp wire rope pliers to avoid fraying the ends. If you fit the end with an end cap or briefly tin it with a soldering iron, you prevent the wires from unraveling later.
