Replacing a piston ring requires some finesse, but with patience, it's quite doable on your own. When installing, keep the following points in mind:

1. Be careful when stretching: Piston rings are made of cast iron and are very brittle. Only stretch the ring as far as absolutely necessary to slide it over the piston into the groove, or it will break quickly.

2. The right alignment: Pay close attention to the small securing pin in the piston ring groove. The joint of the piston ring must fit exactly against this pin.

3. Good lubrication: Generously coat the piston ring and the cylinder wall with some two-stroke oil before assembly. This prevents dry running damage during the first start.
