The special grooves of the friction material facilitate the drainage of water as well as the expulsion of other foreign particles (dirt, sand, etc.). These slots on the shoe also allow for higher and faster cooling of the friction material. Developed and patented in the 1980s, the FTR brake shoes were particularly aimed at off-road use and offered optimal performance, especially under critical conditions. Today, they are still appreciated by enthusiasts of vintage motorcycles.
